Use the Remote Authorization Request to send a request for authorization to a manager through Eclipse.
If users do not have authorization for a particular process, such as changing a price, the system prompts them for a user name and password. Prior to Release 9.0, users were required to locate a manager or supervisor with the appropriate authorization to enter the user name and password. For Release 9.0 and above, users can request this authorization remotely from authorized users that are logged on to the system.
The system displays the required authorization keys and users can determine if they want to request authorization to continue. In addition, users can state the reason for the request and the request displays on the manager's monitor for them to review. Managers can then authorize or deny the request immediately from their own desktop or terminal. Based on the information provided, the manager can then authorize, deny or ignore the request.
Note: The Authorized User Selection prompt displays when a user does not have permission to continue.
Use the Remote Authorization Request Queue to review all the requests over a period of time.
You can exclude authorization keys from remote requests, if needed. Use the Authorization Keys Not Available For Remote Request control maintenance record to define those authorization keys for which you do not want to allow remote requests, such as SOE.CREDIT.RELEASE. This means, you can set up individual authorization keys and the system does not allow remote requests for those keys. This keeps normal, daily operations uninterrupted.
Additionally, you can use the Disable Remote Authorization Requests control maintenance record to turn this functionality off at the site globally.
The Remote Authorization Request utility allows an employee to send a request for authorization and provides a manager with information to make a decision on a request. Once the request for authorization is sent, the manager can view the request details within the Remote Authorization box. The Remote Authorization box also provides a button to open the order for viewing. This gives the manager the information to address the request within their Eclipse application.
The authorization request and respond process works as follows.
The employee requesting the authorization:
When an override authorization is needed, the system presents the Authorized User Selection box.
Select the Request
Remote Auth button.
The system displays the Remote Authorization Request box to select
a person to authorize their request.
Note: To display the associated authorization keys required, select Click Here above the Enter User ID field.
At the Enter user to send authorization request to prompt, enter the user ID for the user from whom you want to gain permission and click OK.
Note: If the user does not have sufficient authorization to grant the request, Eclipse displays an alert. Select a different logged-on user and click OK. If you select a user who is not logged on to the system, this button is disabled. Select another user ID.
In the message area of the Remote Authorization Request box, explain why the authorization is needed, such as "Customer requesting discount for older item."
Select the Send Request button.
The request is sent to the authorized user.
The manager making the authorization decision:
When an employee uses the authorization request utility to send a request to an authorizing manager, the system displays a Remote Authorization Request message box on the manager Eclipse screen. The box shows the user name making the request, the user message, the authorization keys required for the approval, the reason for the request, and additional account details. The box stays open until approved, denied, or ignored. The manager can also select to view the order.
The manager or other authorized user, selects one of the following options:

View Order |
The Order Entry window opens to the customer order in view-only mode. The order opens for the appropriate ship date and with the focus on the specific line item that is related to the request. |
