The Print to PDF feature is only available for customers running Eclipse Forms. |
We have Eclipse Forms some users are setup to 'slave print.' There are no options to control what documents slave print. We need an option so certain documents can slave print and the rest follow normal printing rules.
In Release 8.7.5, you have the option to control what documents you want to slave print through Eclipse Forms. As of this release, slave printing is called Print to PDF.
Eclipse Forms Maintenance controls every document that prints out of Eclipse. On the PDF tab, you can disable forms from using Print to PDF. The default is for all forms to use the new Print to PDF option. By leaving the default, the system functions the same as before the enhancement.
Terminal Maintenance controls what users have the Print to PDF option enabled. Any user that was set to slave print, automatically has the Print to PDF option set. You can change these controls, if needed, at any time.
The feature works as described above with the following changes in Solar windows. On Terminal Maintenance (System > System Files > Terminal Setup), the Print To PDF column displays with check boxes to select which Terminal ID should Print to PDF.
In Eclipse Forms Maintenance, the new Disable Print to PDF option is available to select for any form you do not want users to Print to PDF, regardless of the terminal ID Print to PDF setting.
Note: Batch print forms, such as statements, are not allowed to Print to PDF. All forms that are batch printed will have the Disable Print to PDF option disabled and uneditable.
In Sales Order Entry, the system uses the following logic:
When... |
And if... |
Then... |
processing an order.. |
the user’s terminal ID is set to Print To PDF and the document is flagged to Disable Print To PDF... |
the user is prompted to select a printer installed on the PC. |
the document that prints based on the ‘Order Status’ displayed |
the ‘Disable Print To PDF’ flag set |
the Print To PDF button is disabled. |
the terminal ID is not set to Print To PDF |
|
the Print To PDF button does not display at all. |
the user’s terminal ID is set to Print To PDF |
and the user selects the Print button |
the user is prompted to select a printer installed on the PC |
no options are selected |
|
the system printing functions as it always has. A PDF document displays and the user can select any printer defined on their work station. |
From the Order Status window (from an order Order Status > Print Options), all options (except Print Label) have been moved from the File menu and are buttons at the bottom of the Order Status window. If the user's terminal ID has the Print To PDF option selected, then the Print to PDF button displays.
In the print window from the Report Queue (System > Printers > Your Hold Entries), all users can generate a PDF regardless of the terminal ID Print to PDF setting. If the user does have the Print to PDF setting, the printer field is blank. By leaving it blank, the user is required to select a printer when they select Print from the document.
The feature works as described above with the following changes in Eterm screens. Click the link to display the associated Eterm screen. On Terminal Maintenance (F2 >S >T), the Slave Printing hot key has been renamed to Local Printing to access the print options.
On the Local Printing screen, the Print to PDF option has been added.
On the Order Status screen for the Print Options (Alt-P), the PrtPDF hot key has been added.
On the Print Options screen from the Your Hold Entries (F2 > P > Y) for printing reports, the Print-To-PDF hot key has been added.
