Assigning Product Wizards to Modified Products

Product wizards set default values to use with wire cut, pipe cut, or gutter cut modified products when these products are added to sales orders.

For example:

Set up the Wire Cut product wizard to charge $5.00 for each cut made to modified product Wire A when it is added to a sales order.

Use Product Wizard Maintenance to assign a product wizard and its default values to a modified product.

To assign a product wizard to a wire cut modified product:

  1. From the Files menu, select Product to display the Product Maintenance screen.

  2. Display the product record to which to assign the product wizard.

  3. Use the Add'l hot key and then the Product Wizard Maint hot key to display the Product Wizard Maintenance screen.

  4. In the Wizard Subroutine field, press F10 and select PWIZ.MOD.PROD.WIRE.

The system populates the following fields:

Whether the subroutine is cataloged.

Number Params

Number of parameters available to be run.

  1. Enter any of the following default values to display in the wire cut product wizard.

PLINE

Price line from which a product can be selected to add to a wire cut product. Enter a price line.

You can select this tag multiple times in a single wire cut product if the finished product is composed of products from different price lines.

If not selected, products in all price lines can be added to a wire cut product.

WIRE.CUT

Default charge for a wire cut. Enter a numeric value without special characters, for example, 5.25 for a $5.25 charge.

The default charge is applied to each cut of wire.

For example:

If there are three items on the wire cut product and two cuts made to each of the three items, then this charge applies six times, one time for each cut.

WIRE.REEL

Default charge for winding the wire on a reel. Enter a numeric value without special characters, for example, 5.25 for a $5.25 charge.

The default charge is applied to each reel of wire.

For example:

If there are three reels required for one wire cut product, then this charge applies three times.

WIRE.PARALLEL

Default charge for combining cuts of wire in parallel. Enter a numeric value without special characters, for example, 5.25 for a $5.25 charge.

The default charge is applied each time cuts of wire are combined in parallel.

For example:

If there are three items on the wire cut product and the three items will be run in parallel, then this charge is applied three times, one time for each cut.

  1. Press Esc to save changes and exit the screen.

To assign a product wizard to a pipe cut modified product:

  1. From the Files menu, select Product to display the Product Maintenance screen.

  2. Display the product record to which to assign the product wizard.

  3. Use the Add'l hot key and then the Product Wizard Maint hot key to display the Product Wizard Maintenance screen.

  4. In the Wizard Subroutine field, press F10 and select PWIZ.MOD.PROD.PIPE.

The system populates the following fields:

If there are two items on the pipe cut product and four cuts are made to each of the two items, and each end is threaded, then this charge applies sixteen times, one time for each end of the newly cut pipes.

PIPE.GROOVE

Default charge for grooving one end of the pipe. Enter a numeric value without special characters, for example, 5.25 for a $5.25 charge.

The default charge is applied to each grooving.

For example:

If there are two items on the pipe cut product and four cuts are made to each of the two items, and each end is grooved, then this charge applies sixteen times, one time for each end of the newly cut pipes.

  1. Press Esc to save changes and exit the screen.

To assign a product wizard to a gutter cut modified product:

  1. From the Files menu, select Product to display the Product Maintenance screen.

  2. Display the product record to which to assign the product wizard.

  3. Use the Add'l hot key and then the Product Wizard Maint hot key to display the Product Wizard Maintenance screen.

  1. In the Wizard Subroutine field, press F10 and select PWIZ.GUTTER.CMT.ASHE.

The system populates the following fields:

  1. Leave the TAG and DATA fields blank.

  2. Press Esc to save changes and exit the screen.
