Use Modified Product Maintenance to define the processing steps for modified products. When you define processing steps, enter them in the sequence in which they will occur.
For example:
You sell modified pipe that needs to be picked first, then cut, and threaded last. Define the processing steps in the following sequence so that each step is completed in the correct order:
Pick.
Make Cuts.
Thread Ends.
In addition, you can set up the modification process to lock at a certain processing step. By locking a processing step, the product cannot be modified further until the locked step is completed. This functionality is useful in ensuring that each step is completed in the correct order.
For example:
Using the pipe example above, you lock the Make Cuts step. By locking this processing step, you are ensuring that the pipe is cut to correct length before having its ends threaded.
To define processing steps for a modified product:
From the Files menu, select Product to display the Product Maintenance screen.
Display the product record for which to define processing steps.
Use the Add'l hot key and then the Modified Product Maint hot key to display the Modified Product Maint screen.
In the Processing Steps column, press F10 and select each processing step needed to complete the product modification in the correct processing sequence.
Note: Processing steps are pre-defined. Contact Intuit Eclipse Support for more information.
In the Lock Line Item column for each corresponding step, enter an asterisk (*) to indicate that the product cannot be modified further until the locked step is completed.
In the Default Lead Time (Days) For Processing field, indicate how many days it will take for a product to progress through all processing steps.
Press Esc to save changes and exit the screen.
