Laminate Products Overview

The system accommodates the purchase and sale of high pressure plastic laminate products. Laminate products are purchased and sold in sheets of various sizes. You can cut larger sheets of the same laminate to sell when the smaller sheets are out of stock.

For example:

A customer requests Laminate Product A, which is sold in 36" x 36" sheets. Laminate Product A is out of stock, but Laminate Product B is the same type of laminate in sheets of 36" x 72". You can select Laminate Product B and divide it into two 36" x 36" sheets, and then sell one of these sheets to the customer.

Create a unique product record for each size of the laminate product even though the product is the same. You can then use the multiple product records to search for larger sheets of the same type of laminate when the smaller size is out of stock.

After defining laminate product records for all sizes of a laminate product, define the dimensions to use in cutting the larger sheets of laminate into smaller sheets. The laminate cut dimensions you define apply to all sizes of a laminate product. This universal cut setting ensures that all remnants created from laminate cuts produce sellable stock.

For example:

You have the following set of laminate product sizes:

• 24" x 24" sheets.

• 24" x 48" sheets.

• 24" x 72" sheets.

• 24" x 96" sheets.

The smallest sized sheet you sell of this laminate product is 24" x 24". Define your cut dimensions for this laminate product so that the sheets can be cut into one of the smaller sizes to create sellable remnants. In this case, define both you width and length cut dimensions as 24 inches so that the following remnants can be created:

When you cut laminate products into smaller sizes, the system makes inventory adjustments as necessary.

For example:

When a 36" x 72" sheet of laminate is used to fill a request for an out of stock 36" x 36" sheet of laminate, the system removes the 36" x 72" sheet from inventory and adds two 36" x 36" remnants back into inventory.
