A modified product is a product produced from materials in your inventory that are altered by a multiple-step process.
For example:
The following items are modified products:
Gutters that are cut to custom sizes.
Pipe that is cut to custom sizes with one or both ends threaded.
Different types of wire that are cut to custom sizes and wound on a spool.
Modified products go through multiple processing steps after being placed on an order, such as being picked, cut, and wound onto reels. Use Modified Product Maintenance to identify the processing steps for a modified product.
Once modified products are set up, a phantom routine monitors all modified products that have processing steps associated with them. The phantom advances the products through the processing steps so work tickets generate and print automatically.
In addition to defining the processing steps for modified products, use product wizards to assign default settings to modified products when the products are added to sales orders.
For example:
Use a product wizard to assign the cut charges, thread charges, and groove charges to use as default settings when modified pipe product is added to a sales order.
