Use Buy Matrix Maintenance to set up detailed costing rules that you cannot set up on the Quick Buy Matrix. Buy Matrix Maintenance displays only one matrix cell at a time, so you can apply special costing rules or edit the matrix cell's details.
You must have the BMATRIX.MAINT authorization key to view or edit the Quick Buy Matrix Maintenance window or Buy Matrix Maintenance window.
This topic includes the following procedures:
From the Maintenance > Price Maintenance menu, select Buy Matrix to display the Initial Matrix Information dialog box.
In the Vendor field, enter a vendor's name to assign costing rules to that vendor. Vendors are defined in Vendor Maintenance.
Enter a value in one of the following fields:
Group - Enter a buy group ID for matrix cells that are not product specific. Enter All to include all buy groups in the matrix cell.
Note: You can create a Group = All matrix cell in Buy Matrix Maintenance only, not in Quick Buy Matrix Maintenance.
Product - Enter a product name to create a product-specific buy matrix cell.
Note: Product-specific costing overrides costing for the group to which the product belongs.
In the Branch/Territory field, enter one of the following:
A branch or territory name - Includes that branch or territory in the matrix cell.
Default - Creates a buy matrix cell where all branches and territories use the same costing.
If the system matches a matrix cell to the information you entered, select an effective date to display the cell matrix, or select New to create a new matrix cell.
In the Effective Date field, enter the date the matrix cell becomes effective.
In the Expire Date field, enter the date the matrix cell will expire.
If the matrix cell is in effect for a quantity, the cell will expire when the quantity of the item reaches zero before the expire date arrives.
If a matrix cell expires and there is not a new one to take its place, the system searches the pricing matrix hierarchy until it finds the cell to use when pricing a product.
In the Matrix Type field, enter which type of matrix you are creating.
D - Different Matrix - Activates the Branch, Class, and Group fields, so you can point to a different matrix cell's pricing information.
In the Price Date field, enter a price date to override the matrix cell's effective date. Enter a date here to apply an earlier price sheet to the matrix cell.
To expire this matrix cell after a quantity of product is sold, enter values in the Expire Quantities area. Quantity can be a dollar amount, the product's unit of measure, weight, or load factor.
To search all matrix cells from most specific to least specific for the best available cost, select the Best Price Check check box.
If left unselected, the system selects the most specific matrix for costing and does not search for promotional matrix cells. Leave this option unselected if the matrix cell is for a negotiated price for a product for a time period for which there is a signed contract.
Notes:
The Default Best Price Check In Sell Matrix Maint To No control maintenance record determines the default setting for this field.
If the sell group is not the same as the price line, and the Include Price Lines With Sell Groups For Pricing control maintenance record is activated, the system searches both the price line and sell group for the best price.
To add a comment to this matrix cell, click the Comment tab.
To add a cost override to this matrix cell for contracts and rebates, click the Cost Override tab. By entering a cost override in a matrix cell, the price sheet cost remains in tact, but the sales order reflects the cost override.
Save your changes and exit the dialog box, or continue setting up the matrix cell.
To split the quantity break into two different types of pricing if quantities ordered fall between quantity breaks, select the Split Qty Pricing check box. Splitting quantities encourages the purchase of package quantities. If you order quantity to reach and exceed the first quantity break, but do not order enough to reach the second quantity break, all items ordered beyond the first quantity break do not receive quantity break pricing.
If left unselected, the system does not split quantity breaks. If you order quantity to reach and exceed the first quantity break, but do not order enough to reach the second quantity break, all items ordered beyond the first break receive the first quantity break pricing.
To enforce that quantity breaks are multiples of the first quantity break listed in the Quantity Breaks column, select the Restrict Quantity Breaks to Multiples of Quantity Break 1 check box. If left unselected, quantity breaks can be any number greater than the previous quantity break.
In the Quantity Breaks column, enter the number or dollar amount, and unit of measure at which each quantity break starts.
In the Basis column, enter the basis cost or price to which the formula will apply.
Note:
If you use All as the group, you can use only global basis names in the Basis field because All is not a buy group in a price line to which local basis names are assigned.
To create a new matrix cell, enter a cost basis name for the cell. If the entry in the Formula field is a dollar sign ($) and a dollar amount or a gross profit percent (GP%), the system ignores the entry in the Basis field.
In the Formula column, enter the formula that applies to the basis to determine the cost for the product or products associated with this matrix cell.
Save your changes and exit the window, or continue setting up the matrix cell:
