You have the following options when working with reports in the spooler:
Download reports to your computer.
Upload reports into the system.
Forward reports to other users.
If you are the originator of the report, you can add names to the Forward list, view the Forward list, and edit the names on the Forward list. For an explanation on the levels of authorization see the SPOOLER.FORWARD.EDIT authorization key. If you are not the originator of the report and the report is not View Only.
From the System > Printers menu, select Your Hold Entries or All Hold Entries to access the Spooler Control screen.
Note: You can also press Shift-F2 from another screen to get to the spooler control.
Place your cursor on the report which you want to download.
Use the Download hot key.
The system prompts you to enter the download directory path for the PC. If you are running a windows interface, the system launches a browser window.
Do one of the following:
In the Enter DOS Path field, enter the directory path to which you want to download the report. Use a forward slash (/) to separate DOS directories. Do not use the DOS backslash (\).
Select the directory path from the browser.
The system prompts you to select a download format.
Select one of the following formats from the displayed list.
Format |
Description |
Text (UNIX Format) |
Text in UNIX format. Data is read as ASCII. Each line is terminated with a line feed (LF). |
Text (Windows Format) |
Text in Windows format. Data is read as ASCII. Each line is terminated with a carriage return/line feed (CR/LF). |
Spreadsheet (Tab Separated) |
Spreadsheet, tab separated. Data is read as ASCII. The system examines the file header (first line) to determine columns. Each line is broken into the columns determined from the header. Each column is blank stripped. A single tab character separates columns. Each line is terminated with a CR/LF. |
ASCII, LF-CR/LF, Tab col&pad |
Spreadsheet, tab separated with padding. Processing is the same as for ASCII - LF = CR/LF, Tab col, but multiple tabs separate columns as needed assuming there are tab stops every six characters. |
Spreadsheet Reformat |
Spreadsheet, comma separated (CVS) format. Processing is the same as ASCII - LF = CR/LF, Tab col, but columns are separated by a comma. Each column in the header that contained non-numeric, non-blank data, is quoted. |
Fix Block - Remove LF |
Data transfers exactly as it appears in the input file, except that any line feed characters are removed. |
Binary |
Binary format. Data transfers exactly as it appears in the input file. If you are downloading from a DOS to a UNIX directory, downloads the report without conversions. Use this format for executables. |
At the prompt, indicate if you want to download the document column headings that you have specified in Modifying the Column Layout for a Report.
