Managing individual user sessions has been modified to enhance the ability of the system administrators to monitor active Solar Eclipse and Job Management sessions. If you experience issues with Solar Eclipse or Job Management, Eclipse support staff might request that you launch Session Manager Maintenance for troubleshooting purposes.
You must be assigned the SUPERUSER authorization key to use this function. Contact your support person before using this tool. Only the system administrator should use this function.
The system checks the following items when looking for multiple logins:
User ID
Machine name (computer network name)
Client IP Address
Once checked, then the system does the following:
If the logins are for different user IDs, no special handling occurs.
If the logins are for the same user names and both the machine name and the IP address are the same, then the old sessionID is automatically closed. The system does not warn or prompt the user.
If the logins are for the same user name, but the machine name and IP address are different (not a perfect match), then the user is prompted to close the other session.
Note: A machine that can change its IP address (eg: a Laptop that is moved between wireless routers, a DHCP lease that expires, or connecting to a VPN) may interfere with the check for whether the old and new session are on the same computer, causing the user to be prompted when the old session would normally be automatically closed.
