GENRL Logon Parameters Control Maintenance Records

The following control maintenance records belong to the GENRL (General) category and apply to the system logon parameters.

Enable User ID Prompt For Password Authentication

Indicate whether to prompt users for their user ID, in addition to their password, when they log into the system. ClosedMore:

Options

  • Yes - The system displays the Enter User ID prompt in addition to the Enter Password prompt at the system login screen when a user logs onto the system.

  • No - Only the Enter Password prompt displays at the user login screen. Multiple users cannot have the same login password.

Outcome of setting this control record

Determines the login information a user is required to enter when logging into the system.

Default Value(s)

No

Action if set to Null

Same as if set to No.

Additional Information

Multiple users can have the same login password.

If you set this to Yes and start using the system, we recommend that you do not later change it to No. To make this change, please contact Eclipse Support.

Seconds Of Inactivity Before Requiring Relog

Designate the number of seconds that a terminal can be inactive at any of the program menus before the system logs the user off or locks the terminal. ClosedMore:

Options

Any number of seconds between, 0-9999999.

Outcome of setting this control record

Provides extra security at open terminals by requiring the user to re-enter their password to access the system after a certain amount of inactivity when the user is not operating in a specific window or program. When you press any key after the designated number of seconds of inactivity, the login window displays.

Default Value(s)

Blank

Dependencies

The Re-Log indicator in Terminal Setup must be set to Yes or Lock (for Solar Only), which is typical for a counter terminal, for the system to respect the setting in this control maintenance record. If a terminal has the Re-Log indicator set to No, this record has no effect on the terminal. Terminals away from the counter typically have the Re-Log indicator set to No.

Action if set to Null

The system does not log a user off or lock a terminal due to inactivity.

Additional Information

As long as the user is operating within a specific program, the time constraint is not in effect. It only works when a menu is displayed on the screen.

For more information about locking terminals, see Setting Terminals to Require Passwords After Inactivity or Pick Up Now Orders.

Tune/Song To Play At Logon

Specify the musical tune to play when the login window displays.
