Configuring Transmission Protocols

Used for the transfer of computer or system files between a client and a server on a computer network, the standard FTP protocol is built on client-server architecture using separate control and data connections between the two. You can receive or transmit files, as needed.

Use the EDA Configuration Settings to indicate which FTP protocols you want to use when exporting your data, then select your configuration defaults.

Note: As of this release, EDA does not support the Eclipse Communication Profile setup.

To configure the transmission protocol:

  1. From the System > System Programming > Add On Products > Epicor Data Analytics menu, select EDA Configuration.

  2. Use the Communication Profile field to set up the SFTP address if you are using the Eclipse cloud product with EDA.

  3. If you enter an SFTP address, skip step 3 as the FTP fields are not accessible and not used.

  4. Use the following fields to define your FTP protocol settings:

Field

Description

FTP Host

The server name from which or to which you want to use to transmit files.

Important: Do NOT include the website protocol, such as ftp://, or the port number in this field.

FTP Directory

The directory where transmitted files should be extracted from or deposited to. By default, the system uses the root directory of the FTP connection.

FTP User ID

The user name on the server.

FTP Password

The password for the server. This field is masked once data is entered for security purposes.

  1. In the EDA Admin field, enter the Eclipse user to receive errors or reports for the export process.

  2. Click Save.

  3. After setting these options, review the configuration defaults prior to your export.
