Handling Postal Codes for International Addresses

You can set your system to consider the country when validating the entry in the Zip code field on various Eclipse windows. Setting your system this way allows you to handle international addresses that may have the same postal code as a U.S. zip code.

With this feature:

When you enter a zip code for an address that is not in the system for the country, the system displays the message, "The Postal Code is not in the system. Do you want to add it?"

After you select to add it, the system displays the Zip Code Maintenance window to enter the zip code and associate it with the country.

When you enter a zip code for an address that the system associates with more than one country, the system displays the Valid Countries selection box. Choose the appropriate country.

Handling postal codes for international addresses is available in the following windows:

To use the international addresses feature, activate it with the Allow International Addresses control record. This is a new control record. For additional information, refer to the Control Maintenance Records section. In addition, you must also have the existing zip code maintenance authorization key (ZIP. CODE.ENTRY). Level 2 allows you to add a zip code.
