Tips for Using Eclipse Reports

A few tips for using Eclipse Reports.

Column Defaults

The system uses defaults for some column properties. You can change these, if needed:

Post Filters

You can filter a report after it runs. These post filters are faster than pre-filters to apply because they run only on the completed report. You can filter the report and create mini reports based on the original report data. For example, you may run a report which gives you details on how many products your inside sales staff has sold. You can further filter the report by branch and send that data to your branch managers.

If you know you are going to create several mini reports, we recommend running one larger or all encompassing report first and then applying filters, instead of applying filters at the time of report creation.

Important: Pre-filters do not refresh the sample data displayed, but apply at run time for the report.

Column Actions

Many of the Action menu options can be accessed using the right mouse button.

A column must be selected before the Actions menu is accessible.

Licensing

Eclipse Reports uses a license when running. However, if you access Eclipse Reports through the Solar Eclipse menu while the application is running, the system uses the current license assigned to your user.

If you access Eclipse Reports through your web browser independently of Solar Eclipse, the system uses a new Solar license.
