Changing Graph Colors

You can change the colors of the lines, bars, wedges, and borders in your graphs to meet your presentation needs.

To change table graph colors:

  1. Create a table graph.

  2. From the Graph window, select File > Graph Options.

  3. Click the Color Options tab.

  4. Do any of the following to display the Choose Color dialog box:

To change the color of...

Do this...

a data element (bar, line, or pie wedge)

in the Grouping Colors area, click the color in the Graphic Color column next to the data element in the Status column.

the axis line of a line or bar graph

in the Graph Colors area, click the Axis Color button.

the grid of a line or bar graph

in the Graph Colors area, click the Grid Color button.

the border of a pie graph

in the Graph Colors area, click the Pie Border button.

the background of the graph

in the Graph Colors area, click the Background button.

  1. Do one of the following:

change the color to a standard color

Under the Swatches tab, click the color to use.

adjust the HSB color values

  1. Under the Swatches tab, click a color that is close to the color you want to use.

  2. Click the HSB tab and do any of the following:

  • To adjust the hue, select the H option.

  • To adjust the saturation, or strength, of the color, select the S option.

  • To adjust the brightness of the color, select the B option.

  1. Either enter a new value or click the up or down arrows to adjust the characteristic.

You can view the effect of your adjustments in the preview area beneath the RGB fields.

change the color to a pre-determined RGB color, such as your corporate color

Click the RGB tab and enter a value between 0 and 255 in each of these fields, as needed:

  • Red

  • Green

  • Blue

Note: You can also click and drag the arrow across the corresponding line to adjust the color, if needed.

  1. Click OK to change the color and return to the Graph Options dialog box.

The color you selected displays in the preview area corresponding to the selected graph element.

  1. Click OK to save your changes and return to the graph. The system updates the graph accordingly.
