You can create dynamic dependent relationships between the products on your master job bids. For example, if you need to order a light fixture for which three fluorescent light bulbs are needed, you can set up a relationship between the light fixture and the light bulbs so that when you order the light fixture, the system automatically orders the three light bulbs along with it.
Note: You can add dependency relationships only between lot item materials and stock items or other lot item materials. In other words, you cannot create dependencies between stock items.
Dependent item entry and maintenance is permitted only on master job bids, change orders, and lot item bids that will be converted to master job bids (to allow users to set up dependencies before junior orders are auto-spawned from the master job bid or change order). In addition, dependencies can be viewed from junior orders.
You create dependencies by first identifying a lot item material as a base material. You can then assign the ID from that base material to any stock item or lot item material that you would order only along with that base material, and identify how many of the dependent items are required for one unit of the base material. The only way to manipulate the order quantity on a dependent item is to change the multiplier in association with the base material.
When you access the products through the Job Bid Tracking screen, any dependent items are preceded with the Greek letter Φ (Phi). When you access lot item materials through the Lot Job Bid Tracking screen, any base items are preceded with the Greek letter σ (Sigma), and any dependent items are preceded with the Greek letter Φ (Phi). You can launch only base materials to change orders or junior orders.
