Use the FTP Request PDW Update utility to do the following using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to automatically download and import generic flat file or IDW data directly to the PDW Catalog, unzip zipped generic flat files or IDW data files, or schedule downloads and imports for regularly updated vendors.

Important: Use the FTP Request PDW Update utility in place of the EDI Request IDW Catalog or FTP Request IDW Catalog utilities to more easily download and import vendor data into the PDW Catalog. Unlike the two step FTP Request IDW Catalog, this process is only one step because you have the option of directly importing the data into the PDW Catalog.
To use FTP Requests to update the PDW Catalog:
From the Tools > Product Data Warehouse (PDW) > PDW Import Utilities menu, select PDW FTP Import Utility.

Note: The system saves the FTP Request PDW Update data entered for the import map ID so that you do not have to re-enter the data for future downloads and imports.
Complete the following fields, as needed:
Field | Description |
Communication Profile | (Optional) New in release 9.0.4. If you have a communication profile set up, you can select a profile to populate the remaining fields. For more information about how communication profiles work, see About Communication Profiles in the System Maintenance online help documentation. Note: Based on the communication profile you select, the remaining options change due to protocol requirements. Important: You must set up a profile for any secure transactions. If you use the FTP Transfer Maintenance window and do not load a profile, then the system sends the information over standard FTP. FTP Address | FTP site address for the data update. |
Directory | Directory within the FTP site where the file is located. |
File Name | Name of the file you want to download. |
Username | Your user name for the FTP site. |
Password | Your password for the FTP site. |
Load PDW | Indicate whether to automatically import data into the PDW Catalog. Note:
If you are downloading multiple files, the system places the files
in the directory defined in the |
Unzip File | Indicate whether to automatically unzip zipped files. Note:
If the zipped file contains multiple files, the system places
the files in the directory defined in the |
Remove Remote File | Whether to automatically delete the file from the remote FTP server after a successful download. |
Effective Date | Date the vendor's prices are activated. For example, if you are importing new pricing information on 12/01/01, but the data is not effective until the new year, enter 01/01/02 as the Effective Date to mark the information as inapplicable until the correct date. Set the Use Data Identifier to Yes if you want to use the setup from the PDW Import Maintenance settings. Use the Set the |

Do one of the following:
Use the File > Begin option to start the update immediately.
Use the Options > Schedule option to set the update to run at another time.
Note: If you are running more than one update, you can select the Options > Leave Window Open check box to keep the import driver always open after you start an update.
View Import Map | Display PDW Import Map Maintenance so you can adjust values, if needed. |
Filter | Displays the Filter Builder screen so you can add formulas to manage the data. |
Select Profile | Displays the Communication Profiles screen. You can select a new or different profile to use for the FTP transaction. If a profile is selected, you have the option to select a different one or remove the profile. If no profile is initially selected, a current list of profiles displays. If you do not select a profile, the system runs the import with standard FTP protocols applies.
