A cut group is a way to define whether cuts are parallel cuts or single cuts. The main functions of cut groups are:
Define cut changes and reel options for each group.
Group the products on a parallel group together so that they can ship out together. Parallel groups are only used for cutting wire.
Any options selected for parallel groups, flow to the products defined for that group.
The basic setup of cut groups is to have at least a single cut group and have that cut group set up as the default in order entry. Parallel groups should be set up based on how many parallel spools could be on a single sales order. Having these predefined will save time during the order entry process.
Another option that is available is to create duplicate parallel group in order entry. If needed additional groups can be created on the fly, by duplicating the current group. This would be just for that order and the group would not have any cut changes or reel options available.
To create a cut product group:
From the Maintenance > Product Additional menu, select Cut Product Maintenanceto display the Cut Product Maintenance window.
