Product Dimension Maintenance provides the tools to help you maintain the various-sized dampers you may sell. You can apply cost multipliers, limit the maximum size you sell, and associate costs with each damper model, by creating a list/cost grid for each damper size. During order entry, users can define the damper size and select available models along with options to create new non-stock damper products.
Begin by creating or selecting a non-stock product to which you are defining a damper product. Use Product Dimension Maintenance to create base damper products for each available size, model, and corresponding options. At order entry users enter the base product and the system prompts users to select the damper, enter the length and width, the model and any options available. Then, the system creates a new non-stock product for the damper size entered. If you have a new order and enter the same sized damper, the system reuses the non-stock created. The system uses the base product and the effective date for the pricing calculation. The system compares the effective date to the price date of the sales order to determine the price.
To create a damper product:
From the Maintenance menu, select Productto display the Product Maintenance window.
In the Product field, enter a nonstock product ID.
From the Additional Data menu, select Product Dimension Maintenance.
Select Damper from the selection list to display Damper Product Maintenance.
Note:The system only prompts users at the time of creation of the dimensioned product. After a product has been identified as a filter, damper, or stud product the system automatically displays the appropriate maintenance window.
In the Price Sheet field, enter the price sheet you want to apply to the product. When new products are created from Sales Order Entry using this damper product, the system references the price sheet entered in this field to retrieve pricing information to apply to the order.
In the Effective Date field, select a current effective date or type New. The displayed effective dates are based on the selected price sheet. Select New to create a new price sheet.
Use the Axis Settings tab to define the different damper sizes you sell by length and width. All measurements are in inches. The entries you make here populate the price tables for your price entries. Values entered in the Height column define the row values in the Price Table tab. Values entered in the Width column define the column values in the Price Table tab. Example
The Price Table tab lets you create a list price sheet for your dampers. Values entered in the Height column in the Axis Settings tab, define the rows. Values entered in the Width column define in columns. For each combination, enter the list price. Example
The Model Table tab helps you define all the model numbers for the base damper product. Use the Cost Multiplier field to enter a multiplier that will be added to the model option multiplier. Enter a model number and description. The size entered at order entry, the model selected, and any additional options make up the list price for the new non-stock product created. The system applies the cost multiplier to the list price to come up with the default cost of the product. Example
