Use Inventory Inquiry to review product availability and inventory information, such as product rank, demand, and sales figures, in all branches and territories. This information is useful in procuring products because you can review the branches that have available inventory.
Inventory Inquiry displays product information based on the following branch or territory hierarchy:
Inventory inquiry territory set for you on the Accessible Branches window.
Your home territory.
Branches set for your home branch on the Inventory Inquiry Brs window.
Your home branch.
If you are assigned an inventory inquiry territory or a home territory, the system also displays product information for all stocking branches within the territory.
You can also access additional inquiries and product information from Inventory Inquiry.
To use Inventory Inquiry:
From the Orders > Inquiries menu, select Inventory Inquiry to display the Inventory Inquiry window.
Note: When accessing Inventory Inquiry from other windows, the system uses the product and branch information from those windows.
In the Product field, enter the product for which to review inventory information.
The system populates the Description field with the full product description.
In the Product Information area, review the following fields:
Field | Description |
Status | Product status, such as stock or nonstock. |
Weight | Product weight in pounds. |
Buy Line | Buy line to which the product is assigned. |
Load | Load factor for the product. Use the load factor to determine the amount of the product required to fill a shipment vehicle. |
Price Line | Price line to which the product is assigned. |
Review the following information for each branch displayed in the Warehouse # field:
Column | Description |
Available | Amount of the product that is uncommitted in each location. |
In P/O | Quantity of the product scheduled for purchase from vendors. Note: Kit components are counted, but the items making up the components are not counted. |
In Transfer | Quantity of the product being transferred from other branches. |
In Process | Quantity of the product in the process of being picked or received. |
On Hand | The total quantity of the product available and on hand at the warehouse location in the Warehouse # field. If this field is not available, click the view button in the upper right corner of the table and select On Hand/Committed. |
Committed | The total quantity of the product that is committed to sales or transfer orders at the warehouse location in the Warehouse # field. If this field is not available, click the view button in the upper right corner of the table and select On Hand/Committed. |
In Work | Quantity of the product scheduled for value-added processing. |
Rank | Product rank that identifies how often the product is purchased, in terms of number of hits, gross profit, or demand over a 12-month period, when compared to other products. |
Demand | Frequency at which the product is typically purchased. |
30 Day Sales | Number of times you sold the product from stock in the last 30 days. Note: The total in this column does not include direct orders, even if they are flagged for inclusion in the demand forecast calculation. |
365 Day Sales | Number of times you sold the product from stock in the last 365 days. Note: The total in this column does not include direct orders, even if they are flagged for inclusion in the demand forecast calculation. |
Package Qty | Buy package quantity for the currently selected branch. |
UM | Product's primary unit of measure for sales. |
Cost | The COMM_COST for the product. You must have the COST.VIEW authorization key assigned to see this column. To display the view without cost information, click the view button in the upper right corner of the table and select Without Cost. If the window displays without the Cost column, select With Cost. |
More Options from the Inventory Inquiry Window
The Inventory Inquiry window also offers these options:

locate a branch not currently visible in the detail area | Edit > Find Branch The Find Branch dialog box displays. In the Enter branch to find field, enter the branch or territory ID. Click OK to return to the Inventory Inquiry window. The cursor moves to the requested branch. |
view inventory forecasts for the product | Inquiry > Future Ledger The Product Future Ledger window displays. |
view the transaction history of the product | Inquiry > History Ledger The Inventory History Ledger window displays. |
review sales of the product | Inquiry > Sales History The Product Sales History window displays. |
manage your product information immediately without having to go through a main Solar menu | Maintenance > Product Maintenance New in Release 9.0.4 Note: Standard authorizations apply. If a user does not have the appropriate authorization to view Product Maintenance, the system displays an error. |
review demand information for the product | Maintenance > Inventory The Primary Inventory Maintenance window displays. |
review the pricing rules for the product by customer class | Maintenance > Product Pricing The Product Pricing window displays. You must have S or T status and the BR.AUTH.VIEW.PRIC authorization key to view pricing information for the associated branch. |
review the kit for which this product is a component, if any | Maintenance > Product Kit The Product Kit Maintenance window displays. |
review warehouse locations for the product | Maintenance > Product Location The Product Location Maintenance window displays. |

cross-reference the product with a catalog or other external reference | Maintenance > Cross Reference The Product External Refs selection list displays. Note: If prompted, log on to the character-based system. Select an option to display the requested information. |
view the total item availability in a multiple warehouse scheme, where the central purchasing branch (C) or central warehousing branch (W) branch is the controlling branch. Note: Central purchasing and central warehousing schemes are set up for product groups using Procurement Group Maintenance. | Maintenance > Network Available The Network Available window displays when the selected branch is either a central purchasing branch (C) or central warehousing branch (W). |
