Adding Heat Numbers to Sales Orders

Mill Test Reports (MTR) provide production details from the manufacturer of any raw materials. These details include chemical and physical properties. Manufacturers physically stamp heat numbers on the material, such as pipe, for tracking purposes. Heat numbers work like batch numbers so companies can trace the material back to the manufacturer and the process batch in which it was made. These numbers provide traceability about the quality of the material being used.

Heat number information must be entered through the MTR Information window in Product Maintenance. The heat numbers must match those entered for the product. Eclipse validates the heat numbers entered through the sales order and cannot complete the order or print MTR information for the order without the heat numbers in Product Maintenance.

Note: If you copy a sales order with MTR information on it, the system does not carry that information over to the copied order.

To add head numbers to a sales order:

  1. Display the sales order on which you want to add heat numbers.

  2. From the Body tab > Edit Order menu, select Enter Heat Numbers to display the Enter Heat Numbers window.

  3. Use the Product Description column to locate the product for which you need to assign a heat number.

  1. In the Heat Number field for the product to which you are assigning a heat number, enter the heat number as it appears on the MTR sheet provided by the manufacturer.

These heat numbers can be alphanumeric and are forced to all upper case letters after entry.

  1. Use the Multiple button to enter more than one heat number, if needed.

For example, if the product you are working with already has a heat number assigned, you can add the next heat number using this option. When a user adds this product to a sales order, they are prompted to select the appropriate heat number.

  1. Return to the sales order and continue processing.
